AEW Dynamite 10/23 Review
Match One- Private Party v Lucha Bros- If you want to see a near-perfect example of tag-team-wrestling, just watch this match. The Lucha Bros are the best tag-team on this planet and Private Party is probably the most fun team to watch. By the end of this match, it didn't really matter who won, because both teams looked incredible. Having the more established team in the Lucha Bros win was the right decision, but I believe that Private Party will hold the tag-team championships in the future.
Match Two- The final match of the semi-finals of the tag-team tournament, SCU v Dark Order- This was another very good tag-team match between two very good teams. This one loses points because of the distraction from the Inner Circle. They didn't get involved in the match, but halfway through, they are shown walking through the crowd. All this did was take attention from the men in the ring trying to put on a good match. SCU picks up the win. The final two teams in this tournament were predictable. That is not a bad thing though. SCU v Lucha Bros will be a fantastic match next week.
Match Three- Joey Janela v Kenny Omega- The Inner Circle continues to be constantly shown throughout a match that deserves more attention. It is obvious that they are building to something later in the night involving the Inner Circle. These two have good chemistry in the ring and put on a good match. While I would have liked to see Janela pick up the win, it is hard to argue with Omega winning here.
The first non-wrestling segment of the show comes halfway through. And I love that. Cody comes down or an interview with Tony Schiavone. The Inner Circle interrupts him before he can get any words out. Cody challenges him and begins to charge up the stands to get to him. Dustin, MJF, a surprise DDP come out to support Cody. The eight men brawl in a backstage area.
Match Four- The Young Bucks v The Best Friends- Orange Cassidy is patrolling the ringside during the match, he took a double superkick from the Bucks before the match started. This was a good match, but it was the third tag-team match of the night. I love good tag-team wrestling but I would like to see more variety. The Best Friends get a near-fall after Orange Cassidy interference. The Bucks pick up the win here which was the right decision.
Match Five- Jamie Hayter v Britt Baker- Baker picks up the win with the lockjaw in her hometown. This match was not very good. Hayter used her size advantage to dominate the entire match. Baker hit a superkick to put Hayter down for the submission.
Main Event- Moxley v Pac- Pac gets things started early by attacking Moxley during his entrance. This match gave exactly what you want in a match between two physical guys like them. They spent 20 minutes absolutely killing each other. I know that the finish is going to be controversial, but I actually don't mind it. Both of these guys are top stars for AEW, and not having a clear winner here just builds for another, better match down the road.
My top five from AEW this week.
1. Lucha Bros
2.Moxley
3. PAC
4. SCU
5. Britt Baker
honorable mention for DDP
